A: Melaine Harvey is a poet, spoken word performer, and creative strategist whose work rises from rage, grace, and sacred survival. She is the founder of Pyre and Petal Press, her publishing house, and AnthroPoetica, her merchandise brand. She is the author of The Phoenix and the Pyre, a collection born from fire, faith, and fierce emotional clarity.

Q: How long did it take you to write your book?
A: A few months โ but it was intense. I committed to writing ten poems a day, pouring out everything I was feeling. Once I had about 65 poems, I knew I wasnโt just writing โ I was building something sacred. Poetry is how I release and process emotion, so the writing itself felt natural. But the journey? It was blood, sweat, tears, and grace. The final result was worth every ache.
Q: How did you start the publishing process?
A: From start to finish, it took about four months. I worked with Jaynme Mansfield at Cowgirl Publishing, and I was blessed with an entire team guiding me every step of the way. By the grace of God, they were endlessly patient with my edits, critiques, and vision. They didnโt just publish my book โ they helped bring it to life. Iโll never forget the care and effort they poured into every detail.
